COVINGTON – Hazel Dennis, 74, a resident of the Covington area most of her life and a retired employee of Wabash Valley Flower Shop here, died at 7 a.m. Sunday in Americana Nursing Home at Danville, Ill. Mrs. Dennis had been an employee of the flower shop for 20 years until her retirement in January of 1972. She was a member of Wabash Chapel Church. She was born on Nov. 18, 1898, at Chrisman, Ill., a daughter of James J. and Eunice Elliott Lynch. She married Arthur T. Dennis on March 5, 1919. He died on Aug. 5, 1949. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Lena Lee of Greentown and Mrs. Margaret Best and Mrs. Catherine Gerrib of Catlin, Ill.; two brothers, Ralph Lynch of Georgetown, Ill., and Eugene D. Lynch of Lynchburg, Va.; a grandson, Wayne E. Crowder of Rt. 1, Kingman, and a great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a daughter, an infant son, two sisters and a brother. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here with the Rev. Ray Banner officiating. Burial will be in Lower Mound Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. – jlr
